Guidelines of the Finnish Government have caused great challenges for us. Our government has taken a stricter approach than the Commission's guidelines on border traffic restrictions. Until 19 Sep., an accepted number of new Covid-19 cases was 8 per 100,000 persons, which was raised to 25 compared to 50 recommended by the Commission. Starting 28 Sep., restrictions on entry are accordingly amended weekly. From 23 Nov. testing-based entry is to be introduced. Passengers from countries that exceed the limit can enter with a negative corona test acquired max 72 hours beforehand. If the stay is longer, a new test is required after 72 hours. Meanwhile the passenger is in quarantine and released based on a negative test result. With these preconditions, it is challenging to bring passengers to Finland for trips lasting more than 72 hours.
For a travel agency, these unpredictable actions of the Government have made it impossible to make any plans. An additional challenge is that we have received practically no state support. Today our financial buffer is running out. Last moments to save the Finnish travel trade are at hand.’
