 IATA, UFTAA, WTAAA and ECTAA are currently recruiting for the following positions:
 

Travel Agency Commissioners (3 vacancies) 

The Travel Agency Commissioner is an independent arbiter appointed jointly by the International Air Transport Association (IATA), The Universal Federation of Travel Agency Associations (UFTAA) and the World Travel Agents Associations Alliance (WTAAA) (The European Travel Agents and Tour Operators Association (ECTAA) is a member of the WTAAA). The Commissioner’s role is to conduct reviews affecting agents and applicants under the IATA Passenger Agency Programme.  Vacancies exist for three Travel Agency Commissioners to cover each of the three IATA geographical areas commencing January 1, 2009 – Area 1 covering Canada, Latin and South America; Area 2 covering Europe and Africa; and Area 3 covering the Indian sub-continent, Asia and the South West Pacific.

The ideal candidate will meet the following criteria:

  • Experience in the travel industry ideally gained from previous employment with an airline or travel agency
  • At the time of application must not be employed or have any involvement with an airline, travel agent, travel agency association or IATA
  • Have a good knowledge of the IATA Passenger Agency Programme and the associated rules and regulations or a demonstrated ability to acquire knowledge of the Programme
  • Be an independent contractor not associated with an airline, travel agency, travel agency association or IATA
  • Be fluent in written and oral English with preferably the same skills in at least one other language
  • Have the ability to travel at short notice
  • Experience in dispute resolution and/or legal background will be highly regarded
